Woman Defends Herself and Nudism on National TV in 50s

Court of Human Relations August 7, 1959

Here is an episode of The Court of Human Relations from August 7, 1959, where a woman and her boyfriend discuss their opinions of her being a practicing nudist. The boyfriend is completely against her lifestyle, saying that it is immoral. This episode was archived by the Library of Congress.

While the Court’s verdict is not positive towards nudism, I think the video has a lot of historical value to offer the average nudist. I’ll definitely use clips of this in other video projects.

The nudist section of the episode ends at the 18:25 mark.

Summary

A three-member board mediates disputes and disagreements submitted for review by the people involved. Complainants and respondents are interviewed by A.L. Alexander and the mediators. In this episode, the board considers two cases. In the first case, a young man learns that the girl with whom he has fallen in love is a practicing nudist. In the second case, the board listens to two middle-aged sisters, one of whom wants her reluctant sister to marry a suitor in order to be assured of security and companionship in her old age.
